The best male lead performance of the year and an exhilarating recreation of Live-Aid are the only things that save Bohemian Rhapsody from a basic script riddled with factual errors and a so-so directing job.

Bohemian Rhapsody: Film Review
Directed by Bryan Singer (principal), Dexter Fletcher (reshoots, uncredited)
Written by Anthony McCarten
Starring Rami Malek, Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Allen Leech, Mike Myers
Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of Queen, the internationally famous band of the 1970s-now, and their eccentric and outgoing frontman Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek). The film tells from the band's beginnings as Smile, a rock band that recently lost its lead singer (soon to be replaced with Mercury), to their epic 22-minute set, most of which is recreated for the film, at Live-Aid in 1985.
Rami Malek is fantastic. The movie ... not so much.
